SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica company, is demonstrating its leadership in airborne sensors, mission systems and integrated solutions as part of the Finmeccanica exhibit at the 49th Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, 20-26 June 2011.

Asio1Building on a strong pedigree in tactical ISTAR avionics, airborne radar, electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) systems, electronic warfare and self-protection systems, the Company is this year putting a spotlight on how excellence and innovation in software, sensors and architecture is being translated into mission-essential systems capability. The result is a new generation of advanced sensors and integrated solutions, matched to the demanding multi-mission, multi-platform requirements of defence and security forces worldwide.

A highlight of this year’s show will be the unveiling of SELEX Galileo’s latest Falco EVO tactical unmanned air system (UAS). Capitalising on the proven high-end tactical Falco UAS, Falco EVO complements the Falco by extending the wings to accommodate a substantially increased multi-payload capacity and offering increased endurance (in excess of 18 hours).

Also integrated on the Falco EVO is PicoSAR, a compact and lightweight Active Electronic Scanned Array (AESA) radar, the ESM/ ELINT system SAGE and the EO turret EOST 46.

Recognising the growing requirement for homeland security and maritime domain awareness, SELEX Galileo continues to develop its ATOS airborne tactical observation system. In service with 9 national and international customers, ATOS brings together multiple sensor inputs to enable wide area picture compilation, data fusion and analysis and guaranteed-effective mission management. ATOS features a full range of proprietary sensors, EO/IR and radar, such as the M-scan Gabbiano radar and the Seaspray AESA radar.

Demonstrating Seaspray’s multi-platform appeal, SELEX Galileo was recently selected to supply its Seaspray 7500E to meet an Asian customer’s requirement for a long range, long endurance, border surveillance sensor elevated to altitude using a tethered aerostat.

In the air combat arena, SELEX Galileo presents some of its flagship solutions in situational awareness and protection. For customers requiring high performance M-scan radar, SELEX Galileo offers its fourth generation Grifo lightweight pulse-doppler radar as an ideal choice for fighter upgrades and new production aircraft. In service with five international customers and with over 180,000 flying hours, the Grifo continues to receive great interest from customers, especially in the upgrade market. At this year’s show, SELEX Galileo will be announcing the latest contract for this unique, operationally proven sensor.
