The Republic of Singapore Air Force has opted to acquire six Airbus A-330 MRTT flight refuelling aircraft under a new contract with the European aerospace major Airbus Defence and Space. The announcement was made during the Singapore Air Show in March 2014. Singapore is the sixth nation to select the Airbus A-330 MRTT, the others being Australia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the UK. India is also processing a case for the acquisition of six such platforms for its Air Force and the contract is expected to be awarded in the current financial year. A variant of the commercial Airbus A-330, a total of 17 A-330 MRTT aircraft are currently in service around the world.
