Technically not a conventional fort, Cellular Jail, popularly known as Kalapani stands as mute witness to the valiant defiance, undaunted spirit and sufferings of revolutionaries against the British empire. Completed in 1906 in Port Blair, it had 689 cells in seven wings. It is now a national memorial of great historical importance.
