SCAC appoints new President

On January 28, 2013 “Sukhoi Civil Aircraft” Company (SCAC) Board of Directors appointed the new President.

Mr Andrey Kalinovsky was named President of “Sukhoi Civil Aircraft” replacing Mr Vladimir Prisyazhnyuk.

Mr. Kalinovsky will take up his duties on February 1, 2013.

During the same Board of Directors’ meeting Mr Mikhail Pogosyan – President and Chairman of the Executive Board of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) – was appointed SCAC Chairman of the Board replacing Mr. Igor Ozhar. The new Chairman commences his duties immediately upon his election.

These new appointments to senior positions are associated with challenging goals set by the Company to boost the Sukhoi Superjet program and ensure the SSJ100 aircraft’s success.

Mr Kalinovsky moves from the position of General Director of Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association (named after Chkalov NAPO, Subsidiary of Sukhoi) since July 2007. In order to comply with the state-of-the-art international production standards, modernization and upgrade of the production facilities together with personnel advanced training at JSC NAPO was organized and implemented under Mr Kalinovsky management.

He had assumed the role of First Vice President of Production with SCAC and Director of SCAC Komsomolsk-on-Amur Branch since May 2011.

Under Mr Kalinovsky’s direct management, the manufacturing of the SSJ100 components had been arranged in Novosibirsk (Russia) as well as the aircraft assembly line at SCAC Komsomolsk-on-Amur Branch.

  1. These nominations reflect the high priority of the SSJ program at national level as well as the urgency to boost SSJ production to meet the delevery schedule. Also, important decisions must be made as to the future versions of the SSJ.

    The urgency of gettting results is better expressend by the nomination of Mr Mikhail Pogosyan at the SCAC Chairman of the Board considering his current position and role at UAC which is of primary importance for all current and on-going aviation projet of the country.

    From the viewpoint of an external observer the SCAC projet need more than capital money to reach his objectives, it needs stong leadership, top management direct involvment and a strong technical and managerial ability. Last few months production problems and inability to quickly resolve customers complaints has resulted in a slow deliveries and poor results.
