Javelin Remains the World’s Premier Anti-Tank Guided Missile

Javelin is the world’s most versatile and lethal one-man portable and platform employed anti-tank and multi-target precision weapon system. Employing fire-and-forget technology, Javelin guides itself to the target, freeing the gunner to reposition out of harm’s way or reload as appropriate once the missile is fired.
Capable of defeating all know armored threats in the world today, including main battle tanks, Javelin also defeats a broad range of regular and irregular targets as demonstrated in numerous combat operations. The Javelin Joint Venture continues to expand and enhance Javelin’s capabilities, working closely with the end-user customers and industry partners to provide the warfighter with the most effective system for improving vehicle lethality and survivability.
Javelin is the lightest, easiest-to-operate weapon of its class, and does not require a tripod for deployment. Only minimal instruction/training is required to effectively operate the Javelin system, reducing training time and expenses. First-time gunners hit their targets more than 97 percent of the time.
Capable of fire-and-forget target engagements across the full envelope of the weapon, Javelin can address threats from as close as 65 meters to as far as 4 kilometers in most operational conditions. Javelin has also demonstrated a 94 percent operational readiness rate over the life of the weapon system.
Javelin is adaptable to various platforms, and has been successfully integrated, mounted and employed from remote weapon stations, as well as manned/unmanned turrets. Javelin is currently being mounted on the U.S. Army’s Stryker vehicles, and is in the process of being deployed around the world.
The combat-proven Javelin weapon system has been adopted by international armed forces around the world. It is currently fielded by the U.S. Army, U.S Marine Corps and has also been approved for 17 international partners through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process. With more than 45,000 missiles delivered to customers around the world, Javelin will remain in the U.S. operational inventory through the year 2050, and continues to be upgraded to remain viable against a wide variety of emerging threats.
