During the 1965 operations in the Sialkot sector capture of Charwa, a communication centre, was necessary for the armour breakout. Moving into attack 4 RAJ RIF (Outram's) under the command of Lieutenant Colonel PAR Choudhary, VSM, hit their objective like a stroke of lightning. Unable to cope with the ferocity and speed of the attack, enemy abandoned the defences. For their audacity the Battalion richly deserved the award of battle honour 'Charwa'.
