The Alenia Aeronautica C27J Spartan twin-engine military transport aircraft has proved to be an ideal supply delivery platform in the ongoing war in Afghanistan. The C27J can operate in adverse weather and in limited visibility conditions from a 2,400-foot dirt strip. Perhaps the greatest advantage with the C-27J is that is tactically controlled giving it the flexibility of speedy deployment to provide immediate support to ground troops on the battlefield. Compared to rotary wing aircraft, the C-27J enhances the ability to support more operational units in a single day.
