Towards enhancing its Air Defence capabilities, the IAF would be inducting the first Medium Power Radar on 03 Jun 2011.In the background of the South Western Air Command’s Commanders’ Conference, scheduled to held from 01 June to 03 June 2011, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal PV Naik, would be inducting the Medium Power Radar(MPR), Arudhra at Naliya in Gujrat.
This state of the art radar is being inducted towards strengthening the air defence in the Surashtara Kutch region as a part of radar upgradation and forms an important component in the IAF’s plan to achieve network centric operations.
With the operationalization of the Integrated Air Command and Control Systems (IACCS), an automated command and control system of the IAF, the overall Air Defence of the country would achieve quantum leap where modern radar being inducted alongwith the legacy radar would all be networked.
