Watch this exclusive first video of sea trials of Scorpene class submarine ship INS Kalvari, first of the six being built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd under ‘Project 75’ in collaboration with French company DCNS. India is yet to make acquisition of ‘Black Shark’ Torpedo (by WASS, a Finmeccanica group company) for INS Kalvari. Ministry of Defence (MoD) is to take call for engaging WASS in procurement of torpedos. WASS doesn’t figure in the the six companies of Finmeccanica group which are currently put on hold category by MoD. The sea trials of INS Kalvari are expected to finish by the end of December this year. Sources are hopeful that by the time, India’s indigenously built stealth submarine INS Kalvari completes sea trials, acquisition of torpedo would fall in place.
