In October 2012, the US Navy awarded Northrop Grumman a $28 million contract in support of the MQ-8B Fire Scout. The agreement covers non-recurring engineering support, obsolescence efforts and software sustainment as well as future software development. The bulk of the work will be carried out in San Diego, California with an estimated ten percent taking place at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland.
