T-50

India and Russia are moving forward to establish a joint manufacturing facility in India for producing the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) for the Indian Air Force (IAF). This aircraft is a derivative of the Russian T-50 PAK FA customised for the IAF. The preliminaries have been more or less worked out and after some tweaking of the modalities, it is expected that a contract may be signed here in India in the near future.

Russia has also agreed, in principle, to assemble around 400 advanced twin-engine Kamov helicopters every year in India. The Kamov Ka-226T is a light multi-role helicopter which is used for search-and-rescue operations. Russia has also offered civilian aircraft Sukhoi Superjet-100 and MS-21 aircraft to India. Apart from the Kamov helicopters, Russia may also consider producing the Mi-17 twin engine medium lift transport helicopters in India.
