Air Marshal S Harpal Singh, AVSM, VM assumed office of Senior Air Staff Officer of Headquarters South Western Air Command, IAF on 01 Sep 15.

Air Marshal S Harpal Singh was commissioned in the Fighter stream of Indian Air Force on15 Jun 1980. He has over 2400 hrs of flying on various aircraft.

The Air Officer has commanded a fighter squadron, was the Chief Operations Officer of a major fighter base in the western sector, commanded a radar base and was Air Officer Commanding of a major Fighter Station in the Eastern sector.

He has served in various staff appointments at Air HQ and in Tri Services organisations.

He is a Fighter Combat Leader and is an alumni of National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College and has undergone the General Course for Senior Officers at National Institute of Defence Studies, Japan. For his distinguished services of an exceptionally high order he was awarded ‘Ati Vishist Seva Medal’ and ‘Vayu Sena Medal’.

He is married to Mrs Neerja Singh and they have two daughters.
