A view of the war memorial
There is a parade ground in front as you cross Somnath Dwar and the Memorial is on your right. The theme chosen for the design was “the fallen martyrs have back to the lap of Mother Earth (dust to dust!” Hence the design of the war memorial depicts the design the lap of the mother. The central curve of the mother’s lap are enfaced with golden slabs of Jaisalmer stone, with names of the martyrs and their units etched on it.
