Battle Honours of Rajputana Rifles
Offensives in Shakargarh Sector
SlideShow | Thumbnails18 RAJ RIF (Saurashtra) under the command of Lieutenant Colonel TP Singh, spearheaded own offensives in the Shakargarh sector during the 1971 war. The Battalion remained unstoppable despite the mounting resistance. On the night of 15 Dec 1971 it crossed the deep Basantar minefields under intense shelling and then thwarted all enemy efforts to dislodge them. The Battalion was spectacular in bold execution of its tasks and was rightly conferred the battle honour 'Basantar'.
